About Us

In  2000 decisions were made to develop our farm as an organic dairy farm and that any planting and processing work on the farm is guided by the moons cycles, i.e. any growing of vegetables, reseeding, harvesting, and also cheese making. it is for this reason that we call our farm, Moon Shine Dairy Farm.

We heard about this farming practice many years ago. To us it is a science in itself. We don't pretend for one minute to understand it all.

We use the Biodynamic Sowing and Planting Calendar written by Maria and Mathias Thunx. It is very well laid out and gives a day by day guide of what you should be doing, i.e. what days are suitable for planting, working or processing root crops or leaf crops and so on

We feel that by following these principles and only processing on a suitable day this benefits the flavour, quality, shelf life, texture etc.

We are not members of Demeter, by we do enjoy reading about and practicing some of their principles. We are however members of IOFGA.
